Another Fantasy Creature

Black and White Ink, My Artworks & Process of Drawing

Today I’d like to present you my new artwork, The Wolpertinger (it’s a German name) 🙂

This mythical creature resembles a hare with deer horns. The symbol of a horned hare is quite old and has numerous mentions in the cultural legacy of various countries (see also Jackalope).

For me as a creator of this artwork, the working process was a bit unusual (or just different?) Last several months I drew large-scale artworks, so coming back to the A3 size of the paper was something that felt uneasy. 🙂

I’ve noticed that after the dimensioned and ambitious works that occupied all my table, creating this Wolpertinger felt as if I drew just a miniature. I used ink liners of the smallest widths, 0.05 – 0.2. The paper sheet seemed to be too narrow and small to fit all the natural elements I wanted to gather together here. 😀

Indeed, I poured love into every tiny detail. Nature is amazing, and I was doing my best to convey this awe and admiration for every mushroom, small hollow on the horns and a blade of grass.

I think I will color this artwork digitally. Not now, but this year exactly 🙂 It will look awesome in a stylized vintage range of shades. And also would be great to expand the series of wonderful fantasy creatures, in addition to the existing Turtle.

And below is the process of drawing and close up fragments:

I hope you like this fantastic creature, and the process of drawing is interesting. Thank you for watching, have a wonderful day! 🙂

Sweets and Desserts Artwork

Black and White Ink, My Artworks & Process of Drawing

A continuation of the yummy series. 🙂

If the previous illustration was about pizza and other “serious” food, this one is sweeter (in every way) and even a bit frivolous. I enjoyed thinking about the details and the composition so much!finished The drawing process was very smooth and delightful, regardless of the amount of glass objects that usually are quite complicated to draw, and the quantity of things that I had to keep in mind.

The artwork is very dynamic. Big objects are combined with small ones, particles fly all over around, and everything seems to have a special direction of movement. The mood of this drawing is light and playful, isn’t it? 🙂

Probably I should name it “Sweet Seduction.”

I think the theme of food is exceptionally important for people because it locates at the crossing of nature or conditionally ready-made objects, and culture – a creation of human beings in the course of the history. I am so fond of illustrating food now! Hopefully, this is not the last art on the topic. Yum! 😀

As usual, I have a slideshow of the process photos, so you can examine this artwork closer.

I can’t wait to have it in a scanned and edited version! Maybe I even make something colorful on the base of this artwork in the near future.

I hope you like the process and the result. 🙂 Thanks for watching!

The Food Illustration: Pizza Artwork

Black and White Ink, My Artworks & Process of Drawing

Recently I finished a new drawing that differs from everything I made before 🙂 If previously I worked mostly with the floral theme, now it is all about food.

One day a sudden idea came to me: why not to draw an art depicting food ingredients, various dishes, cooking battery, small particles of something eatable? Everything should be flying around and be dynamic. And in the semantic center of the drawing, there will be two slices of pizza that seem to reach one for another, like the hands on the famous Michelangelo’s masterpiece.

I thought that it looked intriguing and decided to develop this concept.

I’ve chosen pizza slices for the central part of my drawing because it’s a common symbol of modern culinary culture. I personally like it, not only for the specific gustatory preferences but also because I absolutely love having family time with my beloved one – and pizzas often accompany this pleasant process. 🙂 So it reminds me of something very warm and happy.

By the way, this food series will have a continuation. This artwork was about pizza, and the next one will be about desserts and sweets. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the story and the process! Thank you for reading and watching 🙂

The Wonderful Turtle

Black and White Ink, My Artworks & Process of Drawing

Today, with the greatest pleasure, I would like to present my new artwork, “The Wonderful Turtle”.

The main idea of this drawing is the unusual, outside the box outlook. What if we observed the life around us and asked more questions? What if we paid attention to the small moments of simple enjoyment of just being? What if we tried to integrate everything we do every day with an element of a game, wonder, curiosity?

turtle-workingThis shot was taken on my Birthday. There is no reason or excuse not to work 😀

Everything in this drawing is special. The turtle is a symbol of the world that is individual for every single human being, like a separate planet or a different reality. And all the creatures that inhabit this unique world are not accidental: any person has the power to choose thoughts, emotions, dreams, aspirations and goals to fill his or her life with.

We are designed to be inimitable and conscious.

I like how this artwork feels. It has a slight tinge of a fairy tale and fantasy dream. I believe almost any dream or ambitious goal can become a reality, but there is no better goal than be happy and feel love and joy every day of your life. This is the real magic and wonder!

Joys and Miracles of Winter

Black and White Ink, My Artworks & Process of Drawing

Recently I finished an artwork that is dedicated to winter. It’s symbolical because there is a thick cover of snow outside 🙂

finished-fragment-hareI have never created anything big about the winter season. Probably, that’s because so many things I like to draw bloom in spring or summer. Winter is a time of contrasts: white snow, black trees, and small inclusions of something greyish.

This year I decided to break this tendency. Winter can be fun, and it is so beautiful – if we pay enough attention to see this beauty!

In the country where I live, climatic winter lasts for several months. Quite a considerable period of time! It’s up to people, whether to be happy during the cold and predictably greyish months or not. 🙂

This artwork is an embodiment of the wish to be happy and joyful in winter. A snowy forest is full of life!

I really enjoyed working on this piece. It was some kind of a challenge for me as an artist, too: snowy texture should be recognizable. Snow is light and velvety, it blends into the objects but stays visible.

Creating large-scaled art is such a magic! A big size of paper allows composing so many details, various objects and little secrets that make the viewer examine the artwork closely.

That was a moment when I looked at this artwork and thought: “I love it”:

Marine Designs

Black and White Ink, My Artworks & Process of Drawing, Oldies

This is another post devoted to my older ink artworks that (for the most part) weren’t included in my current portfolio. This particular compilation is all about marine adventures and dark art motifs.

I love underwave theme, regardless of whether it is a realistic point of view or a flight of fancy. There is something mysterious in the world of underwater creatures – and so familiar at the same time.

Currently, I’m thinking about a new series of drawings – the theme is sea / river life. Main details are already designated, and I am quite sure that some elements of these artworks will appear in the new series. But it will be much more large-scaled and great than it ever was!

Many of these artworks are available on great apparel, home decor items, as wall art, stickers, etc. I’ll put the links to DesignByHumans and RedBubble just in case if somebody becomes interested.

Everything here is about dark art: a skull, fishes, and anchor. I think it is telling a story!

Love Eternal

I created this artwork back in the 2015 year, in times of passionate admiration for gothic motifs. Isn’t it romantic to be in love till your last breath?

Fantasy Underwater

Experimental mixed media artwork: I wanted to create something very refined and detailed. Probably that’s where my admiration for the multiobject frames starts from.  I love mermaids and collecting as many sea creatures in one place as possible 🙂

Behind the Scenes: the Wisdom of Nature Drawing Process

Black and White Ink, My Artworks & Process of Drawing

Recently I completed a new artwork. I call it The Wisdom of Nature.

The idea for it came to me in October. I was inspired by the slight tinge of fading that accompanies this season. Autumn can be very beautiful, with all its colorful richness… bright orange with an inclusion of brown , vibrant red, vinous, cheerful yellow. It feels as if nature is going to sleep, but shows its magnificence for the last one time. Soon everything will be cold and bare, covered with thick layer of snow.

People often have no special sympathy of long winter months at the place where I live. It can be easily understood: there is almost no sun, white and fluffy snow rapidly becomes grey and dirty, many activities that were possible in summer are now beyond the reach.

And autumn feels like a gateway to this nonchalant time of dying away. The last word before falling silent, it has to be expressive and arresting so we could hear it.

But life is inexorable; we, the living, are forced to deal with everything it has to offer. That’s why we comply and wait for the spring again. It will get better. The sun, green color and warmness will be here again.

The process of drawing

I decided to show the process images and explain how I created this artwork. It is always great to demonstrate how something was made, so everybody who is interested in ink drawing technique could understand the way I work 🙂

Some Good Old Art

Black and White Ink, Mixed Media (Ink + Digital), My Artworks & Process of Drawing, Oldies

As I said in the very first post, the current version of my portfolio became quite renovated. I excluded many artworks that don’t correspond to the direction I want to go further.

But still, those artworks are nice. Many of them were drawn at the beginning of a very special period of time for me. That’s why I decided to join gather them at one post – to leave their mark in my personal artistic history.

The artworks are accompanied by links to my Redbubble / DesignByHumans shops, just in case if you liked the art so much that got the wish to buy something with it. They have great items – apparel, home decor goods, stickers, etc.
